1. Essential Hypertension Adults : As telmisartan, oral administration of 40 mg once a day is recommended, and depending on the patient, 20 mg once a day may be effective. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 80 mg once a day. This drug exhibits an additional blood pressure lowering effect when co-administered with thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide. When the dose is increased, the maximal blood pressure lowering effect occurs 4 to 8 weeks after the start of treatment. 2. Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease Adults : As this drug, it is recommended to be administered orally 80 mg once a day. The effect of reducing the risk on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality at doses less than 80 mg is unknown. Monitoring of blood pressure is recommended when initiating treatment with this drug for the purpose of reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, and appropriate control of antihypertensive agents may be required. ○ Patients with hepatic impairment It should be administered with caution to patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, and should not exceed 40 mg once a day. |
